A Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) is one of the design options being considered for the future reconfiguration of the SC 160 / I-77 interchange (and one is currently being constructed just one exit away at the Gold Hill Rd Interchange).
This video from the Virginia Department of Transportation does a great job showing how the traffic flows through this type of roadway, and also how bike/ped lanes can fit into the design.
